DCSF launches consultation into schools carbon management
DCSF is consulting with schools and stakeholders to gather views about what can be done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the schools sector, what needs to be put in place and what can be achieved. The consultation process will inform the development of a carbon management strategy for the schools sector which will help to guide policy in the years to come.
Schools account for around 2% of UK greenhouse gas emissions, roughly the same as all the energy and transport emissions of Birmingham and Manchester combined. This is equivalent to 15% of the country’s public sector emissions.
You can download the consultation paper and an accompanying evidence and assumptions document at www.dcsf.gov.uk/consultations. The closing date for responses is Friday 20 November.
If you would like more information about the consultation process or the documents, please contact Liz Warren on liz.warren@sd-commission.gsi.gov.uk or 07976 962 055.
