London, CIBSE HQ, 18th November: Climate change, thermal comfort and school design
The building sector is under pressure with the current and the proposed legislations to reduce CO2 emissions associated with energy use. Maintaining thermal comfort in buildings will be a challenge, particularly in the light of global warming predictions. This seminar will highlight various aspects that affect thermal comfort in buildings and provide guidance on how to achieve the recommended thermal conditions in buildings. The seminar will look at current legislation on achieving thermal comfort in buildings and will include presentations from both practitioners and researchers regarding the design, computer modelling and performance monitoring of thermal comfort in buildings. The seminar will also highlight future implementation of new knowledge and advanced technology that benefits the investigation of sustainable solutions to improve thermal comfort for building occupants.
Dr David Coley of CIBSE School Design Group will give a talk on:
Climate change, thermal comfort and school design
David is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Energy and the Environment, University of Exeter
