Passivhaus school design
SCEME Spring Meeting
Wednesday 14th March 2012
During the meeting there will be a presentation on
Passivhaus school design
from Jim Quay and colleagues from JPA
The presentation will include a general description of the unique Montgomery Primary School and
- How the M&E services' design differs between Passivhaus and conventional buildings
- How the design engineers contribute to the project design at an early stage
- What modelling software is involved and the training and learning implications for engineers
- Whether the design time required for a Passivhaus building differs from a conventional one
- How the M&E sub-contractors adapted to any new construction techniques on site
- Any difficulties encountered and how these were overcome
- Lessons you learned for future projects
Colleagues from SCALA and SCQS have also been invited to attend.
The meeting will break for lunch at about 1.00pm, There will be no charge for those members (SCALA, SCEME and SCQS) and their guests not wishing to have lunch. However, for all others there will be a delegate's fee of £15 that includes lunch and a drink from the bar, payable on the day (cheques made out to SCEME).
