OECD Centre for Effective Learning Environments (CELE) promotes the exchange and analysis of policy, research and experience in all matters related to educational facilities.
On 29 September 2011, CELE will launch its flagship publication Designing for Education: Compendium of Exemplary Educational Facilities 2011. Published once every five years, the 250-page book showcases over 60 exemplary or recently built or refurbished educational facilities from 28 countries. Each project is lavishly illustrated with colour photos, plans and descriptions. The publication includes a retrospective of educational building over the last 50 years and look at current challenges and future directions.
Designing for Education is available for purchase a special reduced rate for orders placed before 19 September 2011. To receive the discount, please email thierry.suares@oecd.org.
A launch event and exhibition are planned at OECD Headquarters in Paris on 29 September 2011. Leading architectural critic Shane O’Toole and five education reformers – researchers, educators, architects and policymakers – will take the audience on a journey through the top schools and universities in the Compendium. Registration is free – or you can watch the webcast live. See www.oecd.org/edu/facilities/compendiumlaunch for more details.
